New Community Partners was the managing member of New Community Homes which was designated by the New Orleans Redevelopment Authority (NORA) as the redeveloper of 128 single family home lots acquired by it through the Louisiana Land Trust. These homes were affordable to households earning below 120% of area median income.
The model homes, shown above, were designed in the Craftsman style found throughout New Orleans. The homes, designed for affordability, range in size from 900 to 2,000+ square feet and meet new hurricane-resistance and energy performance standards, with HERS ratings between 50 and 70. The homes constructed met the energy and sustainability standards of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), National Home Builders Association, U.S. Green Building Council and others. NCH sponsored home buyer outreach workshops in partnership with local non-profits and lenders, providing home buyer education and counseling. NCH also partnered with local non-profit organizations to provide job training opportunities to motivated young people from New Orleans’ neighborhoods to participate in the construction industry.
